Rain Activities

What do charter yachts do with their guests when it is raining out? That answer is close to my mind this morning as it has been like the skies have opened up and the monsoons are upon us today in the Virgin Islands! Each year, in either November or May, and sometimes both, we seem to fill up the cisterns to overfull in the Virgin Islands. Usually a great time for us to discover when we have hatches that are leaking and today was no exception.

Playing shot games on a rainy day on a charter yacht in the Virgin Islands

We can always go SCUBA Diving and Snorkeling. We can read or the ever popular napping. Our guests don’t often get the chance to nap much in their busy lives back home. We can watch Captain Ron or play Board or word games. Today, we are playing shot games. Yes, the tequila has come out at 11 AM. You can do this, it is vacation after all. We made popcorn to go along with the tequila which makes it a perfectly acceptable alternative to watching Captain Ron in the salon. We can eat! It inspired the chef today to make both Fish taco and Beef fajitas for lunch. As well as homemade ice cream for dessert tonight.

Rainy Activity: Swimming at Waterlemon Cay off of St John, US Virgin Islands

We chose to go to Waterlemon Cay on St John in the US Virgin Islands. When we have inclement weather and seas, this is usually a very protected and calm spot to wait out the weather. You can hike up to the old School house on the hill or visit the Annenburg Sugar Mill which is also located here. Our guests could see Eagle Rays right from on the yacht. A little bit of water WILL NOT stop the fun on board.

Thankfully the rain never lasts very long, and by this afternoon it had cleared up enough for us to go over to Jost Van Dyke to see what was happening at Foxy’s Bar for dancing tonight.
