Not often does a new yacht enter the market that is truly unique and clearly innovative, nudging the enjoyment of the yachting experience even further, if that is possible. The Moody 54 DS is such a yacht, introducing a new concept in monohull design.

Mojeka is, simply put, a very special boat combining the benefits of a catamaran with the beauty, grace and sailing characteristics of a monohull. Because she is built with public spaces on the main deck and private staterooms below, she actually fits the space of a 64ft boat into a 54ft boat.

Mojeka accommodates 6 guests in 3 very comfortable staterooms. Stepping to the lower level, the spacious master with ensuite bath is located forward. A wonderful large skylight directly above the king size bed creates a great view. The bath has a separate shower stall and electric toilet.

The portside VIP cabin is virtually equal to the master in size only with less headroom. It also offers a luxurious and spacious ensuite bath and shower. The third guest stateroom with double bed is located starboard side and shares the day head/shower accessed by steps at the rear of the salon, or the other guest heads.

Your Captain aboard Mojeka! Your Captain aboard Mojeka!

The sea was in Jan’s soul from birth. He grew up on the seashore in a countryside of hardy fishermen and friendly farmers. His earliest memories are of sailing the Norwegian coast in the family’s small boat, and visiting friends on their farms and still recalls the taste of fresh milk straight out of the urn in the barn. By the age of six, his parents had bought him his first boat. It was a way to get around that he compares to city kids on bikes.

Growing up he could never imagine being without a boat. So, it was no surprise that as a young man he bought a boat that was his home in Norway for many years. However, one morning, when his duvet froze onto the cabin wall, he decided to flee the Scandinavian cold. Pulling up anchor he sailed away to warmer climes.

Captain Jan crossed the ocean in his 29-foot Norwegian classic sailboat, eventually dropping anchor in San Blas, Panama. Panama is one of his favorite places on earth, second only to Cape Verde Islands. The city is a vibrant metropolis, with the most picturesque old town nestled beneath towering skyscrapers. Two hours away, stunning San Blas is an archipelago with some 400 picture-perfect, palm-covered islands.

In this paradise Captain Jan launched his own yacht charter business. For several years he shared his favorite places with guests from all over the world. After attaining his Yachtmaster Ocean license he worked as a professional captain on a range of yachts from small to large. He has sailed worldwide, including the canals of Europe, the Aegean, Mediterranean and Caribbean seas.

Captain Jan enjoys diving, snorkeling, fishing and sailing, whether in command of his seventh personal boat, or the beautiful charter yacht Mojeka. He is an enthusiastic teacher for any guest keen on learning sailing and navigation. Jan says, “Snorkeling, and free-diving are my favorite activities. I am a Padi dive master and a snorkeling instructor. I love to help guests develop from barely-ever-having-been-underwater to nearly professional free-divers! There is so much more under the surface than most people know.”

Captain Jan is a highly skilled mariner and guests always feel relaxed in his capable charge. In addition to being a masterful sailor, he is a tinkerer with an extraordinary knack for fixing things. He is also a story-teller, with an amusing repertoire of life experiences and a fine sense of humor. His native language is Norwegian and he also speaks English and Spanish. His motto: Do the right thing, the right way, the first time. And have fun while doing it!
