90′ Catana Orion Catamaran. Caribbean: 8 guests. Beautiful and spacious sailing catamaran at 18 knots available throughout the Leeward and Windward Islands

Yes you read that right, 90′ for 8 guests. The first think that you think of is that is a lot of space. And it is.

Standing on the dock looking up at Orion I cannot even see up to the cockpit the sides are so large and high!

In some ways it almost feels a little large. Definitely no one will get claustrophobia on this yacht. It does have a bit less of the cozy feel that some charter catamarans has as well.

Captain Scott Fratcher/Co-captain and Chef Allison Thompson

Outstanding husband and wife yachting professionals with the combined talents and experience of six crew positions – and more! One would be hard pressed to find another team to match Scott and Allison’s 25 year track record. They combine for having 200,000+ sea miles.

Captain Scott started his sailing career working as a salvage diver on the US West coast and bought his first sailboat in 1986. At just 22 years old he sailed into Sausalito north of San Francisco where he met Allison Thompson. She grew up in Tiburon living on a converted tugboat and working at her dad’s sailing school. Scott and Allison met at a Christmas party on his boat. He told her his dream of making a life on the sea and sailing away into the sunset. It was love at first sight and the two have been inseparable for over 25 years ever since.

As a team they have sailed over 200,000 sea miles each, including the Pacific coast of Mexico for seven years. They ran a 104’ commercial charter catamaran in Alaska for five years, two trips to the Galapagos, three Atlantic crossings, and many loops around the South Pacific working on private yachts charter boats and sailing their own 50ft gaff-rigged steel ketch.

In 2007 Scott and Allison were critical members of ‘Team Earthrace’ where they helped set multiple fastest ocean crossing speedboat records. They were lucky enough to be involved in the setting of the ‘UIM Round The World Speedboat Record’ that still stands at 60 days.

Scott is a noted author with over ten books to his credit including one on underwater photography with inexpensive point and shoot cameras. He enjoys sharing his wide knowledge of sailing travel destinations and photography with guests. Add in Allison’s gentle manner and attention to comfort and it’s easy to understand why so many guests come back to sail with this remarkable team.

Co-captain and Holistic Chef & Yoga Teacher Allison Thompson

Twenty-five years of charter experience and counting, Scott and Allison’s goal is unchanged – to make each guest’s time aboard special and memorable. They truly embrace and embody (pun intended) a healthy lifestyle and zest for living, treating each day as a special once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. They may have sailed around the world more than once, but they’ve never lost sight of the fact that each of us ‘only goes around once’ in the cycle of life.

The price is surprisingly reasonable for this size of yacht: Between $39000 and $44000 fully crewed and inclusive for 7 nights. Dockage. Communications. Cruising Taxes and Fees and Crew Gratuities are extra. Orion has good availability throughout the winter season.
