Inaugural event offers opportunities for attendees to experience the entire island

– Visitors heading to the island of Anegada for the inaugural Anegada Lobster Festival on Saturday 30 November and Sunday 1 December are in for two days of mouthwatering spiny lobster bites. Caribbean dishes. entertainment and stunning beaches as organisers and restauranteurs put the finishing touches on this exciting culinary festivity.

Chefs at the eight participating restaurants which include Cow Wreck Beach Bar. Big Bamboo. Anegada Beach Club. Flash of Beauty. Anegada Reef Hotel. Potter’s By the Sea. Lobster Trap and Whistling Pine are each serving a unique array of lobster samplers for guests to savor as the holiday season gets ready to start.

Each restaurant will offer a sampler lobster plate priced at $12 that includes three variations of the spiny crustacean with unique offerings such as Lobster Gazpacho. Lobster Fritters. Grilled Lobster. Curried Lobster. Lobster in Garlic Butter Sauce. Lobster Rockefeller. Lobster in Barbecue Sauce, Lobster Sliders and more.

“The unique aspect of Anegada Lobster Festival is the journey to visit each participating restaurant along the island. Unlike most festivals that bottleneck in one location, this event encourages attendees to travel from one restaurant to the next while having the opportunity to experience stunning beaches in between, the island’s cultural attractions, the mom-and-pop boutiques, and the elements which make Anegada one of the most dynamic locations in the British Virgin Islands,”

said Rhodni Skelton, Film Commissioner and Events Marketing Manager at the BVI Tourist Board.

“We are expecting many participants from the BVI, the U.S. Virgin Islands. Puerto Rico. the United States and abroad. As we continue to broaden our culinary tourism product we welcome all to visit the stunning shores of Anegada for this exciting two-day festival.”

Upon arrival into Anegada’s ports of entry, participants will have the option of hopping into one of the stationed safaris or renting a car or scooter to drive themselves around the island.

The safari rides are $25 per person for the entire route with rental cars starting at $40 per day; larger vehicles are priced higher. Parties interested in reserving rentals are advised to make their reservations as quickly as bookings are pouring in quickly.

The event begins at 11:00 a.m. with the lively and colourful sunset party starting at 4:00 p.m. along the strip of beach next to the ferry dock.

Each restaurant is providing their own entertainment with such popular acts as Showtime Band performing at Big Bamboo; MJ Blues. Evolution Band. Quito Rymer. Too Smooth Band. DJ Spuggy will headline at Anegada Reef Hotel.

Travelers may choose from various transportation options. On November 30 and December 1, Road Town Fast Ferry and Smith’s Ferry offers $40 round trip tickets with ferries beginning to run from Road Town ferry dock at 11:00 a.m. Spanish Town at 11:30 a.m. and returning from Anegada at 9:00 p.m.

Speedy’s Ferry offers $30 round trip tickets for adults and $20 round trip tickets for children on November 30 and December 1. They depart from Spanish Town at 10:00 a.m.; Trellis Bay at 10:15 a.m. and return from Anegada at 6:00 p.m.

Inter Island Ferry offers $100 round trip tickets for adults and $50 round trip tickets for children departing from Red Hook, St. Thomas on Saturday, November 30 and Sunday, December 1 at 7:30 a.m.; St. John at 8:30 a.m. and returning from Anegada at 4:00 p.m.

V.I. Airlink is also offering round trip flights for $99 and $70 one-way tickets. Their schedule for Saturday, November 30 follows as: EIS- NGD, 9:00, 12:00, 15:00 and 17:00. There will be return flights from Anegada for interested persons a half an hour from each respective time. On Sunday, December 1, the times are as follows: NGD-EIS, 9:00, 12:00, 15:00 and 17:00. There will be return flights from Beef Island for interested persons a half an hour from each respective time.
